V Scoop: Discover Multi-Generational & Family Style Homes

Vendors on Vedere, id810 are one of many designers who have recently received much acclaim for their work with family-style home decorating. And in the architecture work, Robert Hidey is at the pioneering force behind housing trends, which now includes multi-generational housing.

In late April, thousands of prospective homeowners turned out to see a new concept in family living at Lambert Ranch, located in the Southern California city of Irvine.

Nine luxury model homes with options for multi-generational housing, ranging from private quarters and free-standing guest homes to innovative compound estates were on display.  Designed by Robert Hidey Architects (RHA) for The New Home Company, the 169 residences in the 50-acre gated enclave were planned to serve the present-day needs and future aspirations of today’s families for flexible living space, bearing RHA’s hallmark: courtyard homes with ample entertaining spaces that flow seamlessly from indoors to outdoors – this time for several generations of occupants.  .

“We designed each of the plans to address the very relevant need for multi-generational housing,” says Robert Hidey, president of RHA. “As we move on to a stronger housing market, separate living spaces to accommodate the privacy of family members are going to become extremely common in new homes. To meet this need, each plan at Lambert Ranch offers either a separate guest house or private quarters with two master suites.”

At the heart of these three communities is a resort-sized social center, The Ranch House. Designed by RHA to serve as the hub of the community, the community center features a 1,500-sq.-ft. club-room with catering facilities, a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, a spa, outdoor kitchen with BBQs and a fireplace, a permanent Ping-Pong table, and a Bocce Ball court.
